She Showed Me Books, I Found Myself

My mamma, with a loving heart

With love for books and thoughtful mind.

She said, "Don't ask for toys each day,

A book will help you find your way."

She opened the world of books to my eyes,

My mamma, who taught me to rise.

She told me words of Kunjunni Mash,

"Read and grow, or bend and crash."

She gave me stories old and wise—

Of Tenali's tricks and Birbal's surprise,

Of kings and gods and battles grand,

Of animals in a far-off land.

With her love, I read every day,

Panchatantra tales in a fun new way.

She brought me books of every kind,

To stretch my heart and grow my mind.

At first I read just to obey,

But slowly, reading lit my way.

The quiet words became my friend,

Helped me grow and helped me mend.

Reading made me strong inside,

Shy feelings left, with new pride.

From quiet corners, I stepped out bold,

Thanks to mamma, my heart of gold.

Books are friends that never end,

They lift me up, help me mend.

Now when I hold a book today,

I thank my mamma in every way.

She gave me more than she could know,

A gift that helps my spirit grow.

So if you see a child in need,

Give them not a toy, but a book to read.
